Mitigate risk with a rewarding degree.

Learn how to use mathematics and theory to predict and plan risk management by earning your Bachelor of Science (BS) in Actuarial Science at App State.

App State’s Actuarial Science degree will teach you how to use numbers to evaluate the likelihood of future events and design creative ways to reduce risk. Actuaries analyze trends from former data and make reasonable assumptions when there is no reliable data. As an actuary, you will develop models of what the future may look like.

App State is the only university in the University of North Carolina System that offers a four-year degree in actuarial science.

Our program will provide you with a firm foundation in mathematics, statistics, economics and finance. Courses will prepare you for the first three actuarial exams: Exam P – Probability, Exam FM - Financial Mathematics, and Exam MLC – Models for Life Contingencies. Successful completion of this degree and the actuarial exams will open opportunities in the field of insurance, risk management and many other industries.

Actuary experts are in high demand, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Employment for information security analysts is projected to grow 32% in the next decade, with a median annual salary of more than $110,000.
