Tap into the growing, flavorful fermentation industry.

App State’s Bachelor of Science (BS) in Fermentation Sciences degree program provides you the knowledge and skills to join the rapidly growing fermentation industry.

We offer access to state-of-the-art production and research facilities for brewing, wine production, distillation, bioprocessing and fermented food production. You will be able to gain hands-on experience through research opportunities, service laboratory projects or internships with our multiple industry collaborators.

Our facilities include a research and analytical service laboratory with instrumentation for analytical chemistry and microbiological applications, a 400-L column still and a 100-L pot still, a fully automated 3-bbl brewhouse and a 1-bbl brewhouse, temperature-controlled fermentation vessels for beer, wine and cider fermentations, a food preparation area, research laboratories, sensory booths and classrooms for in-person instruction.
