Economics is the study of how people choose to use resources. Majoring in Economics - Environmental Economics and Policy at App State prepares you to become an expert at identifying the role that humans play in environmental resources and quality, as well as in developing the solutions to make sound environmental decisions.
The program takes a problem-solving approach to issues involving renewable and fixed natural resources, and it is based on a foundation in microeconomic theory and the economics of resources and the environment.
Our approach is to combine data with rigorous theory. With this degree, you will have a set of skills in theory, quantitative methods and communication that is highly sought by employers in government, nonprofits and private industry.

A minor is required. It must be selected from the following: Biology, Chemistry, Geology, Physics, Geography, Anthropology, Sustainable Technology, Sustainable Development, other minors with the permission of the chairperson. Many students also choose to pursue a second major in Sustainable Development.
