App State’s Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in Studio Art - Sculpture degree program is designed to foster technical expertise and conceptual exploration, encouraging you to develop a strong artistic sensibility while gaining professional-level experience across a wide range of sculptural processes.
You will build proficiency in metal fabrication, wood woodworking, foundry casting and carving and develop complementary skills in 3D modeling, digital fabrication, time-based media, installation art and public art proposals. The program’s interdisciplinary studio practice and individualized mentorship prepares emerging artists for careers in contemporary fine art, fabrication, design and technical specialties, as well as for graduate study.
Fully equipped studios, shops, labs and an outdoor large-scale sculpture yard provide an environment for you to experiment freely, refine your technical skills and produce ambitious, professional-quality work.
The senior year culminates in the Senior Exhibition — a capstone exhibit that involves collaboration between faculty and students with critiques along the way. All intended BFA Studio Art majors must submit portfolios for review to be formally admitted into the program.
