Refine your skills and make your mark.

The Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in Studio Art - Printmaking degree program at App State offers an immersive, applied education for artists passionate about print, paper and contemporary book arts.

As a Printmaking student at App State, you will develop a strong personal voice alongside gaining professional-level experience across a wide range of printmaking processes. You will build proficiency in silkscreen, lithography, intaglio and more print methods while developing complementary skills in drawing, photo-printmaking, color theory, illustration, typography and bookbinding.

Through interdisciplinary studio practice and individualized mentorship, the degree concentration prepares emerging artists for careers in contemporary art, illustration, design and publishing, as well as for graduate study. You’ll also engage in professional development opportunities through exhibitions, critiques, visiting artist workshops, collaborative projects and portfolio development. All intended BFA Studio Art majors must submit portfolios for review to be formally admitted into the program.

App State’s dedicated printmaking and book arts facilities will provide you with access to professional equipment and collaborative studio environments to produce professional-quality work.

The senior year culminates in the Senior Exhibition — a capstone exhibit that involves collaboration between faculty and students with critiques along the way.

“The connections and friendships I built with faculty and students in App State’s Printmaking program made for a network of opportunities as soon as I graduated. I’ve benefitted professionally from the technical mindset that printmaking fosters, as well as the overall creative problem-solving taught in many Studio Art classes. Printmaking at App State allowed me to grow as a leader and teacher through assistantships and clubs, which helped me succeed after graduation.”
