Be a champion for your community.

Social workers are professionals who care about people, want to assist in improving the well-being of others and want their work to make a difference through services provided to individuals, families, groups, communities and society. Earning your Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) at App State provides you with the foundational skills needed for entry-level professional social work practice or to transition directly into graduate-level academic work.

App State provides an engaging learning environment that promotes personal development, scientific inquiry and the professional values of the social work profession. Gain the knowledge you need to serve diverse clients and communities in a variety of human service agencies, providing direct services and advocating for human rights and social and economic justice.

Few occupations can match the diverse range of opportunities available to social work professionals. Launch a compassionate career in a variety of settings, including mental health clinics, schools, child welfare and human service agencies, hospitals, settlement houses, community development corporations and private practices. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics predicts job growth for social workers to exceed 7% through 2032.

App State’s BSW program is fully accredited by the Council on Social Work Education, the national accrediting body for social work education programs.
