Shape the spaces of the future.

Explore design as a force for change as well as a means of environmental stewardship in App State’s Bachelor of Science (BS) in Interior Design degree program.

Master interior design basics, such as color scheme planning and textile selection, while developing knowledge and expertise in areas such as sustainable design, computer-aided design, lighting and rendering that will help you succeed in an ever-evolving industry. In addition, the program places particular emphasis on environmental responsibility, community service, global issues and universal design.

Study with esteemed App State faculty who are industry professionals and develop a deep understanding of interior design’s technical and artistic aspects for a variety of public and private interior environments.

The program is accredited by the Council for Interior Design Accreditation (CIDA) and the National Association of Schools of Art and Design (NASAD).

After graduation, you’ll be ready to seek professional status through the National Council for Interior Design Qualification (NCIDQ) exam, as well as state‐specific licensure.

    Student Profile: Isaac Wood

    For a class project, interior design major Isaac Wood created a universal, accessible design for a fictional client moving an elderly parent into their home and took first place in the 2019–20 Otto Zenke Student Design Competition. The competition is open to North and South Carolina students in interior design or interior architecture programs.

    Student Profile: Kayla McDougle

    Kayla McDougle’s grandfather taught her to always “measure twice, cut once.” Now she applies his woodworking advice — along with her Appalachian education — to real-life projects as she majors in interior design with a minor in building science.
