Excited to explore the French language and culture? Oui!

Earn your Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Languages, Literatures and Cultures - French and Francophone Studies at App State and take your career to the next level by adding language proficiency and the knowledge and appreciation of French culture to your résumé.

French is the official language in 29 countries and an official language of the United Nations, NATO, the European Union and the International Committee of the Red Cross — making French a key language for professionals interested in international affairs, political science, economics and global business.

Earning a bachelor’s degree in a foreign language is so much more than just learning to speak, read and write in another language. You will gain insights into cultures, literature and linguistics while strengthening your analytic and interpretive skills.

By majoring in French, you will gain a number of transferable skills that make you attractive to employers. These include excellent interpersonal and intercultural communication skills, the ability to understand and analyze different cultures and perspectives, flexibility in thinking and adaptability to new environments, collaborative work skills and the ability to research and synthesize information from a variety of sources.

Study abroad opportunities will allow you to apply your new skills to the real world.
