Gain a deep understanding of East Asian languages and culture.

Few parts of the world have experienced political, economic and social change faster than East Asia. The rapid globalization of this dynamic region and its ties to the United States have created a need in the job market for employees with a deep understanding of this region.

Acquiring practical language and cultural skills through App State’s Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Languages, Literatures and Cultures - East Asian Languages and Cultures degree program will make you a prime candidate for a variety of careers in government and diplomacy, scholarship, banking and finance, business, law, education, journalism, public health, medicine, international relations, tourism, translation and more.

Earning a bachelor’s degree in a foreign language is so much more than just learning to speak, read and write in another language. You will gain insights into cultures, literature and linguistics while strengthening your analytic and interpretive skills.

With courses ranging from contemporary politics and religion to literature and ancient philosophy, you will gain a knowledge base that makes you an indispensable part of your team.

This program requires a study abroad or international internship.
